“Consumer promotion” vs “Trade promotion”?

Consumer promotion targets end-users, using tactics like coupons and loyalty programs to generate direct demand and increase brand awareness.

Trade promotion targets supply chain partners (wholesalers, retailers) with incentives like volume discounts to encourage them to stock, promote, and push the product through the distribution channel.

-> The fundamental difference is the target: consumers are the direct recipients of consumer promotions, whereas intermediaries are the recipients of trade promotions.
